Add it to Your Resume: Master Distiller

Posted by the Fair Maiden on April 28, 2011

Oh, Woodinville, WA: home of retired NFL quarterbacks, pageant beauties, and (according to Wikipedia), Action Jackson himself (“Whoa, whoa, whoa. There’s still plenty of meat on that bone. Now you take this home, throw it in a pot, add some broth, a potato. Baby, you’ve got a stew going!“).

And now, a slightly more exciting prospect: a whiskey distillery!

Whoville? Woodinville!

Since this distillery is fairly new (and whiskey requires this simple process called maturation), they’ve come up with a novel concept: an age-your-own-whiskey kit, complete with un-aged whiskey and a mini aging barrel, among other exciting features.

Neato burrito!

For a mere $170 (chump change!), you can watch water turn brown!

No, seriously, though, you get two 750 ml bottles of White Dog un-aged whiskey (malting, germination, milling, mixing, yeasting, fermenting, and distillation processes included!), a two-liter aging barrel, a pouring funnel, two tasting glasses, and a set of instructions. Within about a three- to six-month (go for six) maturation process, you’ll be enjoying your own “handcrafted” blend.

Brewmaster? Pffft, you’re now a veritable master distiller.

I love love love that a Whoville citizen is sponsoring this whiskey, makes me smile and remember why I love Dr. Seuss! Also, that age-your-own-whiskey kit idea is genius, wish I had thought of it!

Great site!! So colorful and helpful! Yay for Whiskey!
